In this era of globalisation where the use of information technology is widespread - the Government of Mauritius is keen to move towards e-procurement. The benefits through the implementation are massive in terms of reduction of procurement time and costs. It is also in line with the philosophy of sustainable procurement.
In this endeavour Mauritius has made a first step towards e-procurement. In fact a dedicated website for public procurement in Mauritius has now been developed on which all public bodies would post information such as invitation for bids, Annual Procurement Plan, Summary of Bid Evaluation Report and Notice of Procurement Awards.
Thus now and onwards suppliers, contractors and consultants would be able to view on the procurement portal features such as current and future bidding opportunities and even download bidding documents where permitted, and also view evaluation reports and awards made in the recent days.
